Hearing Something New in an Old Story

Charles Stanley preached “the prodigal son” tonight.  As many times as I’ve heard the sermons, read and pondered it myself, I heard some new things today.  Or, maybe I heard their particular emphasis more.

You can’t out-sin God’s grace to love you.

After you accept Christ, you can walk away from hearing God by choosing – over and over – to sin.  You may be saved to go to Heaven, but there will be earthly consequences and altered heavenly rewards.

The prodigal son’s father had forgiven the boy before he ever laid eyes on him.

The Word of God is so magnificent and powerful to bring something new and fresh in its reading and telling – every single time.  No matter how many times.  No matter what.
