The Glorious 4th – July 2009

Yesterday, I was asked to speak at a Tea Party today.  Prior family plans prevailed.

There are many things I could have said today.  Many things that need to be said in this time and place.  It’d be hard to chose just one point for a crowd to carry home – for a day, or as long as they remembered.  Or, until they heard the message again.  And again.  And again.

I have recurring rhetorical themes and repetitive points in my writing.  Yet, on this day, I’d just let them rest.

Because this is the day when in the course of human events Americans made a declaration of independence for We, The People to birth a Nation.  The United States of America.  A new country was formed with the authority of Natural Law and the audacity of individual rights created by the Judeo-Christian God.

The individual citizen is the soveriegn of the state.  All things flow from that American idea.   The idea is still ascending.

It needs strong defending – now.

  1. Absolutely love the last four sentences of this post, JAB. Well done.

  2. Thank you very much, NoVa. First things first. A lot of folks don’t have a clear priority on what needs to be done in the political realm – which they rightly disdain – to forward our Nation for more, better years grasping to the tail of a rising star idea.
